We will explain in detail the causes and solutions for poor night mode quality of surveillance cameras.

Analysis of the causes of "cloudy" night mode images:
Any obstructions (whether in the screen or not) or strong light sources around the lens can cause infrared light to reflect back into the lens, making the image look dull and washed out, and especially distant scenes look dark.

Solution:
① When installing, try to avoid as many obstructions as possible around the lens, such as cables, brackets, poles, utility poles, branches, etc.
② Make sure to maintain an appropriate angle between the lens and the wall, ceiling, beams, etc.
③ When installing near a light source such as a street light, spotlight, or light box, make sure there is a certain height difference between the light source and the monitor.

Analysis of the reasons why "light spots" appear in night mode images:
Strong lights or other infrared sources may be present in the environment, which can cause a large "spot of light" optical phenomenon in the camera lens.

Solution:
Be careful not to expose the network camera lens directly to strong light sources.

Reasons why night mode images are blurry and noisy:
In a large or spacious surveillance environment, with low illumination and few reflective objects, the images in night mode are usually darker overall, blurry, and may appear with a lot of noise-like artifacts.

Solution:
① In low light and open environment, the effect of night vision is usually poor. Please fully consider the monitoring distance and actual environment at night.
② In environments where better night vision is required, consider using an infrared dual-lamp or quad-lamp camera and plan your surveillance area appropriately.
③ In the right conditions, you can add supplemental lighting to the surveillance scene, but be careful not to shine directly into the lens.

Analysis of the causes of bright spots and long trails appearing in nighttime images:
When shooting at night, the exposure time of the lens is relatively long, so moving objects such as flying insects and dust are likely to cause bright spots and trails, which is a normal phenomenon when shooting at night and is difficult to avoid.

Analysis of why nighttime images are dark:
If the camera is too close to a wall, the infrared light reflecting off the wall will be too strong and the wall will be overexposed. To maintain brightness across the entire screen, the camera will decrease the shutter exposure time, causing the other side of the screen to become darker.

Solution:
① Adjust the camera mounting angle to reduce the wall area and expand the effective monitoring area.
② Set area compensation to increase the exposure time and improve the monitoring effect in dark areas.
③ After adjusting the angle or setting the area compensation, using an appropriate wide dynamic range can improve the effect of night vision.
